M’Guphynn Media’s first Fan Film is now online. MILES BEHIND: A Spider-Man Fan Film was shot in Calgary, Alberta over the summer of 2021 with the hopes of premiering at the Comic Convention Expos we love to frequent.

Our last blog focused on the plot and cast of the film. This time we’re going into a little about the production background of the film.
MILES BEHIND is a not-for-profit project that celebrates our love of Spider-Man and the collaborative talent within the Fort McMurray and Alberta film community.
Tito Guillen worked closely with Ralphy during the shoot on the character of Peter’s headspace leading to the film’s conflict.
Through Eb Mensah, who plays Miles Morales, we were able to connect with talents like Patrick Schmeikal and Jonathan Nickerson, who worked as body doubles and performed acrobatics.
Cosplayer and Voice Actor BJ Whimpey, who voiced J. Jonah Jameson.
As well as Ralphy Miracle, who plays Peter and provides the songs you hear throughout the film.
The cinematic score was done by Josh Rickard, who has previously worked on Star Wars fan films.

The community of Calgary was the most ideal location in Alberta to emulate the big city feel of New York City. Alpha Comics served as Peter’s job location in the film. The City also had a wealth of talent to draw on.
Filming right in the heart of Calgary during the summer was surprisingly a pleasant experience as Calgary Economic Development made obtaining a film permit easy for us.
Eb Mensah, also a well-known cosplayer in the Calgary community, takes a moment between filming to take pictures as Spider-Man with onlookers.
A YouTube like and social media share goes a long way to helping us appreciate and show off the talent involved in making MILES BEHIND. We look forward to continuing our indie passion into our next professional production.
