Life has returned to “normal” and with it comes a new sense of building a Film Community in Fort McMurray.
This past weekend (June 11-12th) we proudly helped young filmmakers in our region produce their first ever short film.
This Short Film Workshop was organizes with the help of the Suncor Centre for the Performing Arts, Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, and the Friends of SECPA.
Students had a two day intensive to learn how to write, shoot and edit a short film. The workshop included:
Collaboration, Pitching Story and Script Formatting
What the camera sees: Locations, Casting, Props & Costumes
Storyboards & Shots Lists
Film Coverage & Camera Techniques
Production Scheduling and Resourcing
Data Management and Non-Linear Editing
Editing process steps.
Exporting Video for Purpose
Our role, besides teaching the above, was to facilitate students by giving them hands-on use of film, lighting and sound equipment,. Along with software and resources to produce a short film in under 10 hours of time together.
It was absolute magic watching the creativity in our students spark and grow as they began coming up with ideas, that led to a script, that led to planning a shoot, to filming, finding sounds and music for their edit, and finally putting it all together.
It is with great pride that we present:
